Birthday Mix For My Sister

It's been a long time since my last "Sister-themed" mix. It was created as a going away present before her great adventure as a student living abroad in Edinburgh, Scotland. Well, her life took a few unexpected turns while there, and she is now married to a Scotsman and the mother of a toddler of twenty some-odd months. This birthday mix is mostly a celebratory affair, but it has hints of some of my sister's challenges and obstacles, as well as some of her successes. She's very proud of her daughter, and I have to say, she's a truly adorable little tyke. My sister's latest challenge has been living apart from her husband as she attempts to finish up her Bachelor's degree at UC Berkeley. It has given my mother and I a chance to reconnect with her, as well as to get to know my niece, but it's been tough for my sister. She's starting school again very soon, and I wish her all the best as she tackles what may turn out to be the biggest challenge of her life.

This mix is packed full of the kind of music my sister loved as a teen, I'm always surprised at how much our tastes have diverged despite our relatively close ages. She desperately wanted to be Cyndi Lauper when she was 14, and by 15 was passionately in love with Duran Duran. She's still an unapologetic ABBA fan, and especially requested the Pat Boone version of "Crazy Train". Of course, I had to add my own touches here and there, hopefully introducing her to tunes she will like and maybe lead her to explore artists who are unfamiliar to her.

Happy Birthday Sis!

Premiere Posting

Welcome to buglady's Auditorium!
This blog will primarily be used as a posting site for my AOTM mixes while that site is under reconstruction following a plague of hacker attacks. I will also add links to blogs by favorite fellow mixers, and music blogs of interest. Occasional posts of interesting bug-lore, or cool discoveries will be included here as well.

To start us off, here is a link to one of my favorite music bloggers:RideYourPony's Twilight Zone!
RYP has an amazing collection of rare garage LPs and CDs that he posts regularly. Lots of great stuff to pore over and enjoy.
